Explore Bantry House & Garden, a scenic 18th-century estate that has been in the same family since it was purchased in 1750 by Councilor Richard White. More than 250 years later, the White family still owns, operates, and lives on the property. Visit the historical grounds, which have been open to tourists since 1946. Walk the lush gardens, examine the stables, and view the Queen Anne-style architecture of the building, which was built in 1700. Purchase a refreshment in the Councilor tea room, or stay at the bed-and-breakfast that has been welcoming guests since 1990. Stayed a night. The room was lovely, access to the grounds, library and Billiards room after the day trippers were gone was a magical experience. Highly recommended.
We were lucky enough to stay a night here. Cozy, welcoming staff and owners. Comfy beds, beautiful library with open fire to ourselves. Amazing views, beautiful breakfast and enjoyed a tour of the house the next day.
I am positively surprised. I didn't expect to learn (and to see) so many interesting new things. Lovely persons welcome you and the guide was super. His English was also easy understand for foreigners and thus non native English speakers. Which is by far not always the case in English speaking countries. Almost Mediterranean 'ambiente' when sitting at the terrace with great view over Bantry Bay
Very historic houses with original family as owners. Great scenery of Bantry bay. Lovely gardens. Tea room.
A real gem of a place, rich in history. The guided tour was wonderful, with a really knowledgeable guide who made the history of the place accessible for everyone in the group, including adults and children alike. The house is a real, lived-in home still, not a museum, so it doesn't have the perfected, sterile style of your typical OPW property.
