Burren Birds of Prey Centre, Ballyvaughan

4.7
Burren Birds of Prey Centre provides educational flying displays of birds of prey, and the opportunity to interact with the birds first-hand. At the flying display you will see different hawks, eagles, falcons, and owls from around the world fly over your heads as the trainer describes their habits to you. Take the hawk walk to get up close and personal with the birds; you'll be given an introduction to falconry and have the chance to handle a Harris hawk for the hour. The instructor will teach you how to release and call the hawk while walking through the woods. • I visited this attraction 7 years ago and I have memories of it being much better. I made a big effort to return here during our 2020 'staycation' in Ireland. €40 for family of 5 and we were all...  more »

  • An amazing experience: go to the raptor display, and more than one if you can (they are different every time with different birds and different instructors). There also a nice zoo-style display and the instructors are very friendly and seem to always be ready to talk raptors (and sometimes other birds). The major attraction though is the personal hawk walk: you get to walk into the forest carrying a Harris Hawk, release and catch it, and watch it catch things. It is a bit costly but the experience is well worth it and you can always think of it as a donation to the centre's wild life conservation efforts.
  • Excellent. Well informed trainers have great demonstration. Brilliant selection of birds with good information. Could walk around at leisure. Reasonably priced
  • Do the hawk walk. My son loved it. Was great. Very helpful pretty young lady took us along as we flew the bird. Thanks again!
  • Amazing visit. Kids got to hold hawks and owls. Learned loads and saw all sorts of incredible birds. One admission price but you can go to all the shows all day! Highly recommended.
  • Loved the bird show! We were pleasantly surprised with the Peregrine Falcon show, world's fastest animal. The bird master done wonderful job in the description and was very patient to give each of us a chance to hold the Harris hawk.
