The largest museum in the country, Iraqi Museum displays innumerable artifacts dating back to ancient Mesopotamia. Across 28 rooms and galleries, the exhibits showcase the development of the people and cutures in this territory, from 10,000 years ago to today. The museum was looted in 2003, when over 500,000 artifacts were plundered, and the site was partially demolished. However, with the help of UNESCO, most of the exhibits were returned, and, after a long renovation, the museum reopened in 2015. Now you can visit and see everything from hunting tools to statues, legal documents, paintings, and much more. This museum was absolutely breathtaking. The amount of priceless artifacts they have is just amazing. However, the English descriptions for each make absolutely no sense. Even though the museum seems to be poorly ran it's amazing
5 stars is the least thing that I can give to this place. It holds the history of more than 7000 years of civilization you can see the first civilizations and empires in the history of humanity ! The first words in the history ! This place worth every moment you spend in it you really need to visit this place
Incredible experience with amazing taste of history. I cannot describe how it feels when you touch a thing that is 5000+ years old! Yes, you can touch them! Must see and visit. They are open until 6:00 PM, not until 2:00 PM as posted
Very amazing museum. But unfortunately some of the original parts of it were brought to the European countries.
Of course I'm gonna give it 5 stars! A more than 7000 year old nation is worth that. Recommend it!
