Amir Chakhmagh, Yazd

(4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Casting an impressive shadow over its surrounding square, Amir Chakhmagh stands as an iconic mosque complex in the capital city. With an intricate facade of 24 symmetrical sunken alcoves, the 15th-century structure rises three stories over the city's central square, overlooking a historic bathhouse, rows of fountains, and a market bazaar built into the base of the facade. Climb the narrow spiral staircase to the first floor and gaze out from the railed alcoves across the bustling, vibrant square. At night, amber lighting floods each alcove in a memorable spectacle. See Amir Chakhmagh and all Yazd has to offer by arranging your trip with our Yazd itinerary planner.

  • Amir Chakhmaq Complex is presiding over a large square that the last January were finishing reform to make it completely pedestrian. The large ornamental fountain in the center of the square is illuminated at night, as well as the facade of the Amir Chakhmaq Complex, which allows to take beautiful pictures. The place, both day and night, is a center of meeting of tourists and locals. Behind the facade, that impress from afar, there is only a small street of the Bazaar, but it has a couple of local food places that are very much worth. We entered that was more filled with local people, and we are not.

  • Amazing landmark that you cannot miss if you are traveling/visitng Yazd. I highly recommend to visit during the late afternoon and night time because of the light, shops and people who gather there.
  • Very nice place but it's crowded and you have no place to park your car but it's absolutely worth to see such a nice place
  • The landmark in Yazd that you cannot miss. It is just a gateway with a few shops at ground floor. The buildings looked nice also when flooded with light after dark.
  • بسیار زیبا- very very gooooood....
  • Amir Chakhmagh is a must seen place in Yazd. A heritage monument with a combine Islamic and Persian architecture.
