Amir Chakhmagh, Yazd

3.8
#5 of 6 in Sightseeing in Yazd
Landmark Tourist Spot
Casting an impressive shadow over its surrounding square, Amir Chakhmagh stands as an iconic mosque complex in the capital city. With an intricate facade of 24 symmetrical sunken alcoves, the 15th-century structure rises three stories over the city's central square, overlooking a historic bathhouse, rows of fountains, and a market bazaar built into the base of the facade. Climb the narrow spiral staircase to the first floor and gaze out from the railed alcoves across the bustling, vibrant square. At night, amber lighting floods each alcove in a memorable spectacle. • One of the most representative of the city of Yazd. You can wait for you to do at night and see the lights of the fountains in front. You can also be quietly in one of the terraces in the plaza and take a juice or ice cream

  • At the first, you see a lot of ledges on walls with two minarets. They are awesome. It has different view in day and nights. Take a picture- rest for a while- eat some food or deserts.  more »
  • The complex consists of this superb façade, water tank, on the left when you're in front of the façade, with its five towers of the wind, the small Bazaar built in the IX century it not much. To the right of the complex a gigantic naqhl (the nakhl is a construction of wood used on the feast of Ashura which celebrates, among Shiites, the massacre of the Imam Hosseyn and his family by the Caliphate, Umayyad to Karbala. Decorated with drapes on the occasion, the nakhl symbolizes the coffin of Hosseyn; It is carried in procession through the city.) Where to stay in Yazd

Yazd offers visitors plenty of choice when it comes to accommodation, with hotels and guesthouses mostly scattered around the streets that make up the Old Town. For an authentic experience, you can choose one of the increasingly popular hotels situated in converted traditional houses. Designed in a typical Persian style, the lodgings boast peaceful courtyards, where you can hang out and sample local drinks and dishes. The traditional hotels usually offer both private and dormitory style rooms, while a couple of affordable modern hotels provide cozy, clean rooms, free wifi, and other basic amenities.
