Kabood (Goey) Mosque, Tabriz

(4.1/5 based on 75 reviews on the web)
Feel the spiritual atmoshere in Kabood (Goey) Mosque, a 15th century mosque. The structure suffered severe damage in an earthquake in the 18th century, and the reconstruction is still taking place. See the only original part of the mosque, the entrance hall or iwan, with its impressive blue tile work. Marvel at many inscriptions and arabesque patterns on the walls inside, and appreciate the striking mosaics. Since religious practices still take place here, you can also see ceremonies and prayer sessions. • I have seen this mosque which is one of the highlight if this city but not really presenting things as most of its decor is gone. It's mostly history that you like to know about this.  more »

  • Perhaps this Mosque does not have the beauties of other mosques in Isfahan and Shiraz but it is quite unique in Iran due to the original blue of its interiors. Unfortunately an earthquake destroyed most of the building, which is now a mix between the glorious past and the daily reconstruction.
  • The mosque was built in 1465, massive stone dome and extensive blue tiles used to decorate it. Unfortunately there was an earthquake in th 1770's which damaged the art work. The repair work is still ongoing. Would say it needs quite some time, as it looked like not even 50% done. The exterior is still missing most of its outer casing of tiles.
  • The mosque was very beautiful, you can still see the tiles that decorated it.
  • چیز خاصی نیست. کبودیشم رفته شده خاطره خخخخخخخخخ
  • A very nice and old mosque, with special ceramics used for decoration.
