Vakil Mosque, Shiraz

(4.1/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Visit Vakil Mosque, an 18th century mosque, and learn about the architecture of the Zand dynasty period. The mosque covers an area of 8,660 sq m (93,215 sq ft). Its name means "regent," and refers to Karim Khan, founder of the Zand dynasty who used that title. See decorative floral tiles, characteristic of the art of that period, in the mosque as well as in the garden. The minbar, or pulpit where the prayer leader (or imam) stands to deliver sermons, is a true masterpiece, made entirely out of green marble. • A mosque that hard to find, with an output of the Vakil Bazaar. When we were there (January 2017) just develop the explanda in front of the entrance door and the inside seemed newly renovated, so it is ve want it put in value. What stands out most is the magnificent forest of 48 sturdy columns of the Hall of prayer for summer. He deserves to go to see it.

  • Nice mosque in Shiraz and great designs- I especially love the marble staircase and the carvings and usual colours.  more »

  • A very beautiful and historic mosque. But it is hidden deep inside the bazar, so you have to ask around: just say "masjede vakil" and people will tell you where to go, if that doesn't work, show them pictures. Shopkeepers know the way around better than consumers. good luck
  • Actually nothing to see, and work in progress at the moment of our visit. And there are so many incredible places for sightseeing in Chiraz, you can easily pass that one. Might be good to have a rest under the columns.
  • This mosque is so majestic and beautiful. The rows of columns at the main prayer hall makes the room feel so grand and I so small. It was under renovation when I visited and I would love to return when it's completed.
  • Not worthwhile to pay. There are many mosque in Shiraz which are more beautiful than it.
  • so beautiful
