Once the city's main point of entry, Qur'an Gate stands majestically at the northeastern end of Shiraz. Initially constructed in the 10th century, the gate was restored several times over the centuries to the monumental sight you see today. Look up to the room located on top of gate, previously home to two handwritten Qurans, now preserved in a nearby museum. • It's a gate that cars used to pass through before. It is said that it had/has (I don't know) a huge Quran in the top chamber of it. And it is tradition to pass from under a Quran so that you will have a safe trip. This gate is historic and used to be one of the main gates long ago
