The lion and sun on the royal emblem greet visitors to Qavam House, where you get a sense of the powerful elegance of the Qavam family. The traditional house received its finishing touches in 1886 by designer Mirza Ibrahim Han who was inspired by the Victorian era. Admire the lush paintings on the low ceilings and get a peek at 19th century aristocratic life. • This garden belongs to the family of Qavam al-Mulk. The Narenjestan mansion was used as a courtyard and place of reference to the peasants and other people, as well as the venue for public meetings an...  more »
  • Built in the late eighteen hundred Qavam family, wealthy merchants. It consists of the actual garden, with Palm trees and water fountains and plants from Qavam House itself. A splendid residence with a vaguely Victorian taste that blends with traditional Persian architecture that favors small spaces richly equipped with frescoes, coloured tiles, mirrors and even mirrors and some furniture that belonged to the family. A very nice place to visit but especially to take a relaxing break in the visit of Shiraz.

  • This place shows you what a traditional palace is (they call it house) for fortunate people in the 19th Century. It is perfectly balanced in a way that it has all the feature of similar houses throughout Iran: Windcatchers for cold air (generally to store food), central garden and pond (Again to cool the air), outside terrace with impressive ceiling decorations, marble walls, tiles and the wooden doors and walls made without nails and/or glue. If you like architecture you will like it. It is advised to get a guide.
  • If you want to know that how one of the elite families used to live in expensive house in which every inch was covered with top class art work then you must vist this house which is now converted into a museum. This house will take your breath away. The house itself is a fine example of 19th century Persian architecture. It is consist of small garden & the pavilion beautifuly decorated rooms, with mosaic-mirror walls, unique paintings, intricate tiles & inlaid wooden panels. Qavam family who built thus house, had realy high level of art sense.
  • An old Iranian house with traditional architecture Don't miss visiting They also have traditional qajar and qashqai dresses that you can rent to take pictures I recommend early spring time (mostly March) for visiting because of the amazing scent of orange blossom
  • It is a fantastic architectural place, if you visit Shiraz, I recommend to visit it
  • One of the best historical landmarks in Shiraz, and one of the most popular locations among tourists. Totally recommend it.

Where to stay in Shiraz

The main bazaar district in the center of town remains the primary place to look for accommodations in Shiraz. Standard hotels tower over the public squares, and side street hostels offer particularly budget-friendly dormitory room stays. To the north of this central district, you'll find the most opulent options in town, with luxury hotels offering commanding views of traditional Persian gardens, swimming pools, and onsite fine-dining restaurants.
