Imam Square (Meidan Emam), Esfahan
(4.9/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Dating back to construction at the turn of the 17th century, Imam Square (Meidan Emam) represents a sprawling piazza that now holds World Heritage Site status. The square sits between two large mosques, the historic bazaar, and a palace. Edged by these monumental architectural feats and containing a reflective fountain at its center, the square is an open public space that invites local and visiting families and groups of friends out into its expanse. Shop for souvenirs at the bazaar, whose stalls sell traditional pottery and other handicraft items. Put Imam Square (Meidan Emam) and other Esfahan attractions into our Esfahan vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Very beautiful big square. A circle can be reached by horse-drawn cart. Around the perimeter of the square in covered arcades. A good view of the whole area from the terrace of the Palace. The Palace itself is now (October 2016) in forests. But you can see murals and music room. Located opposite the Palace mosque, which earlier visited the Shah's wife, for this they passed through the underpass under the square. Mosque with its beautiful openwork cupola. Under certain light conditions in the dome centre right like the tail of a Peacock. Pay attention to the arch to the central bazaar. It also interesting frescoes that hardly anyone pays attention.

  • Declared World Heritage site by Unesco, is a well deserved award as its dimensions and its monuments, two mosques and a Palace make it unique. Inside the Iranians in their gardens leverage for snacking and make family reunions. For various reasons it have visited the three-day stay in Isfahan and one see it never tires. On its sides are handicrafts remarkably like copper or special characteristic of color pottery cobalt blue and notable pieces
