Around the perimeter of the square is a market/Bazaar. Near the minarets are the old dilapidated colorful two-story houses made of clay and wood. With one side begins the old souk, which goes to the Imam Khomeini square.

Esfahan includes a smattering of accommodations that provide variety, if not depth of choice. Along the main Chahar Bagh drag and the streets that lead off it, you'll find a few fairly basic hotels, providing decent rooms in the city center, close to the main attractions and services. Hostels can be found, with dormitory rooms providing particularly good options for budget-conscious travelers who want to be right in the thick of things close to the main square and the bazaar.
