Plaosan Temple, Yogyakarta

4.4
#4 of 20 in Historic Sites in Yogyakarta
Ruin Landmark
Visit Plaosan Temple to see the imposing twin temples of this partially restored 9th-century Buddhist complex. Two box-shaped temples identical in style sit side by side, their roofs a mass of bulbous stupas (pointed reliquaries), rising to a central pinnacle. Step inside to view impressive sculptured reliefs on the walls and stone statues guarding the empty lotus pedestal of bronze deities, long since pilfered. Two fearsome dwarapala--huge stone guardians--guard the entrances to each temple. Hundreds of smaller shrines and stupas surround the twin main temples, a handful of which have undergone restoration. Uniquely for structures like this, the complex bears an inscription with the names of those who built it. • Large indhuist temple complex divided into 2 parts (North and South). Don't forget to cross the street and see the second/South part (smaller).  more »
  • A few kilometre from Prambanan so easily viewed if on a private trip and you ask your driver. The major structures are two identical quite ornate temples surrounded by a wall and a collection of stupa...  more »
  • When sightseeing in Prambanan monuments overlook the plant Sun Temple, went at a later date. Went in the transjoggia 3500 rp Prambanan from Yogyakarta, where baitaku and negotiate, we went sightseeing on the set's temple and Temple plant than 80000 rp. Memory and lost admission fee for foreigners was not so great. By the way's temples are 5000 rp. Tourists at least around the plant Sun Temple a peaceful landscape, towering presence healed and.

  • Gorgeous temple in the midst of paddy field. It was nice to still witness the statue mostly a whole at the inside, though most of them are still need to revitalize again..
  • We didn't enter this site because the view from outside is awesome enough for you to pose plus they were having a shooting when we asked the guard for entry. But the guard suggested that we should go to the next site which a 3 minute walk from the North one. Good view for photo because we can have Merapi Mount in our picture.
  • Alternatif Prambanan . Spot foto mantap djiwa . Tiket masuk 3k/orang .Gak tau kemarin ke plaosan lor / kidul angger nulis wae lah wk. "KEEP YOUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN WHEREVER YOU VISIT" .Instagram : @tonysaizo
  • Slowly being rebuilt, the area will be huge once completed. At the moment there isn't too much to see but is worth stopping by after visiting Prambanan. This to me is a must see as the temple celebrates the mixture of two religions of Hindu and Buddhism.
  • Very nice place to visit. Pictures temples and good ambience, especially at the afternoon
