Affandi Museum, Yogyakarta

4.3
Browse the life's work of one of the most renowned Indonesian painters at Affandi Museum. As you approach the site, note the museum's exterior: the building was designed and constructed by Affandi himself, with the roof resembling a banana leaf. Enter to view a large collection of 250 colorful, expressive paintings. Admission includes a guide and screening of a documentary that will help you understand the close bond between Affandi's personal life and his art. Later, enjoy some food or drink at the onsite cafe and shop for souvenirs at the gift shop. Our Sewon trip website makes visiting Affandi Museum and other Sewon attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Continuation, we were off. Sure Let's go off before you go. Have changed appearance and wanted us out next time. Because on the way to the airport is so good in the last day.

  • The Museum houses a wide range of works of the famous painter Affandi, namely Indonesia. Here we can see the different collections kept by starting from scratch, he painted until his death along with a painting of his wife and children. The stalls are also available here if thirsty and hungry (or it could be to the restaurant Pronto), there is also a small mosque to pray. I was lucky there was a guard who accompanied me to get around while you explain about each painting (which I later regret is quite forgot to give you tips but he's been very good at being a tour guide). The Museum seems to me even though you are not a must-see art lovers. Any location near the plaza ambarukmo and adisucipto airport.

  • Though I herald reviews, this artist and his complex proved very intriguing. The museum yields insight into Affandi’s style temperament, and approach. The guide at the museum was also good with though...  more »

Love it 👍
  • I LOVE THIS PLACE. I am a photographer myself and this place just so inspiring looking at another artists life, his works and his life pace. This is an art museum. There are paintings that considerably naked or exposing whole female body (Afansi's wife). Parental guidance is advised. The door guy knows what, so you shouldn't worry about asking everything you have in mind to him about the place.
  • A gem designed and built by Affandi, an Indonesian surrealist painter - often dubbed as Indonesia's Van Gogh. His body of work spans between paintings and sculptures. Consists of 4 major galleries and a cafeteria. He himself and his first wife is buried in he complex, beside the entrance of the first building. The ticket is relatively cheap, and cameras are allowed. The complex is very noticeable from Laksda Adisucipto street.
  • The ticket is only Rp 25k for domestic visitors (free soft drink after the end of the tour), Rp 10k for students. If you want to take pictures inside, pay Rp 10k for pocket camera, and Rp 20k for pro camera. There will be a guide who accompany us wandering the four studios of the museum. It was very informative for me.
  • A good place to know one of Indonesia maestros. I have to make a confession. I have been.libing in Yogya for more than 20 years but I visited this place just recently! I took my 9 yo daughter. Guess what, not only me, but my daughter enjoyed the museum and the collections there. Our guide was a very friendly young woman. She was veey detail with her explanation. This place is a must if you visit Yogya!
