  • 1000 monkeys on 1 spot. Very special but fun for 1 time. The local guide walks with a stick on the monkeys on distance.

  • This is a fun place to watch monkeys. A couple things to remember: 1. Always be calm, especially when the monkeys climb on you (and they will). 2. Don't bring anything, like keys, glasses, etc. with you--leave them in the car (one of our group had her glasses stolen by a monkey, and it took about a half hour to get them back). 3. The "guides" are shop owners, so be prepared to get hit up to buy knick knacks at the end of the tour.
  • It is good to visit but if it is in your route, it is in isolated area. There are a lot of monkeys playing around with many guides. Don't carry anything monkeys can steal. If you let them on your head or shoulder, expect they will do it on you ;). They steal glasses or other things just to burgen for food, believe it.
  • Good place to visit. Do not buy anything from the store there. They rip you off. Better go to Krisna and buy the same things for cheaper prices.
  • Great experience. Although the workers are very salesy and want you to go buy things in their "shop" for "goodluck." You can tell they are village people and very poor. I supported them. Even tho I didn't want to lol! I suggest you bring your own big bag of peanuts, otherwise you will have to keep paying for small bags and that's no fun. The monkeys are aggressive, but not in a scary way. They're just hungry. I returned here three different times. Bring your camera!
  • The monkeys there are trained against human interaction and would steal when the opportunity arises. They get really aggressive when approached and should bite and scratch if you get too close. Entry fee is cheap compared to the other monkey forests in Bali and have experienced parking staff that will look after your scooter/motorcycle while you are away. The forest ground is extremely small and is more like a garden than a forest. They have cool bats though.

Where to stay in Tabanan

Options for accommodations on your Tabanan holiday are as diverse as the geography of the region itself. The town of Tabanan, from which the region takes its name, has a few options, but you're better off looking elsewhere if you want to see the area's best sights. Head up north and stay in an eco-resort near Mount Batukaru, or base yourself in the old town of Mengyi for easy access to the Taman Ayun temple complex. If you want something more cultural, go for a homestay among the region's central rice paddy fields. While Tabanan's coastline remains less developed than that of many other regions in Bali, you can find some excellent luxury beach resorts, especially around Kerambitan.
