  • Monkeys here are very aggressive - no concern for 'health & safety' of its visitors. One of our party had a large monkey jump on her which caused injuries and bleeding. Needed anti-rabies injections (...  more »

  • Together with my family Alas Kedaton visited during a short stop to monkeys to look on the way to Tanah lot. We would initially go to the monkey forest in ubud, however, on the advice of our guide we are diverted to Alas Kedaton. There the monkeys a lot less aggressive and local guides accompany us personally. Once there, saw the whole there what expired and there were also few other tourists on the site. We got as promised two guides which ran with us around the grounds. Not even 5 minutes after arrival a monkey jumped out of nowhere through my back on my shoulders. Where this left wounds some light crab. Food, bags, sunglasses and the like we had on the advice of the guide in the bus and also the peanuts that you can buy for 2000 rupiah there were at the guides in hands. The same happened to my little sister, however, was the Saba on her leg. Around us we saw several monkeys also on other people climbing, or they have over there also scrapes to held we dare not to say of course. Eventually the guides seemed more interested in to us as soon as possible by the Guide and park at one of their stalls to smear than keeping odds and ends to the monkeys. Because Yes the guides. turn out in the long run also just sellers. We have been to the incident quickly walked by-direction output, there was offered to disinfect the scrapes and was assured us that the monkeys no rabies carried with it. To err on the side of caution, we have to take a trip to the doctor for further care, advice and the vaccine. This occurrence has a damper know within an hour to post on the on the other hand, very nice holiday in Indonesia. I will in any case not a monkey forest visit and the Council personally.

  • The monkeys there are trained against human interaction and would steal when the opportunity arises. They get really aggressive when approached and should bite and scratch if you get too close. Entry fee is cheap compared to the other monkey forests in Bali and have experienced parking staff that will look after your scooter/motorcycle while you are away. The forest ground is extremely small and is more like a garden than a forest. They have cool bats though.
  • It was a cool experience seeing a temple and being surrounded by a lot of monkeys. You'll get a friendly guide who is showing you the garden and the temple. Afterwords they'll try to sell you some clothes and sculptures and are very sad when you don't buy anything.
  • Lovely restaurant, great food at reasonably price, great service and amazing location
  • If you never go to a temple with many monkeys that really want to steal anything that you carry (if you're not cautious), then I recommend to include this in your itinerary. It gives you a very good experience.
  • Just not a fan of thief monkeys, they're kinda aggressive so be cautious!

Where to stay in Tabanan

Options for accommodations on your Tabanan holiday are as diverse as the geography of the region itself. The town of Tabanan, from which the region takes its name, has a few options, but you're better off looking elsewhere if you want to see the area's best sights. Head up north and stay in an eco-resort near Mount Batukaru, or base yourself in the old town of Mengyi for easy access to the Taman Ayun temple complex. If you want something more cultural, go for a homestay among the region's central rice paddy fields. While Tabanan's coastline remains less developed than that of many other regions in Bali, you can find some excellent luxury beach resorts, especially around Kerambitan.
