Raja Ampat Islands, Sorong
Categories: Reefs, Nature & Parks
The nearly 1,500 tiny islands and shoals making up Raja Ampat Islands boast some of the world's richest biodiversity. Home to Indonesia's biggest marine national park, this sparsely populated archipelago features thick jungle forests, white beaches, weirdly shaped atolls, waterfalls, and caves. Tourists flock here for the unspoiled natural beauty, as well as the range of outdoor activities that include bird-watching, swimming, and sailing. Most foreign visitors come for the unbeatable snorkeling in water so clear just looking down from a hut above reveals a dazzling world of over 1,500 fish and nearly 600 coral species. Check out regional capital Waisai for best accommodations and tour options. Put Raja Ampat Islands and other Sorong attractions into our Sorong vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

We went to Wayag, Raja Ampat. Climbed Wayag 1 and 2, amazing view from the top but need a bit of work. Be prepared, have comfortable walking shoes, wear shorts, and gloves. Worth the trip.
