Trip Planner: Asia / Indonesia / West Nusa Tenggara / Lombok / Senaru / Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfall
At Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfall, white water plunges down bright green cliffs, thick with tropical vegetation. Reach the first waterfall via a short, simple hike through lush forest. You won't need a guide to find it, as the path is easy and straightforward (nor is a guide mandatory, despite what various people hanging around may tell you). The second fall requires more effort to reach, though the spectacular sight makes it worthwhile. Follow the trail onwards from the first waterfall, up a steep hill climb, across a creek, and past several other obstacles. Due to the increased difficulty of this part, many visitors recommend a guide for this fall--and you will find plenty on site offering their service. Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet, and bring as few belongings as you can (the guide will help you carry things). Once you arrive at the second fall, reward yourself with a dip in the invigorating, cold plunge pool. Our Senaru vacation planner makes visiting Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfall and other Senaru attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Как ценителям водопадов - нам понравилось. Идти не утомительно, освежиться возле водопадов можно. Very green place, usually seen waterfalls-more Rocky, and then directly from the dense vegetation water lashes. You can with the kids, super extreme transitions not everywhere on the road. Near waterfalls seen black monkeys, unusual.
It takes about 30 minutes to get to the first waterfall, and another 30 to get to the second. Some waterproof shoes are needed for crossing a stream. Alternatively bring shoes with good grip because the rocks near the second waterfall are very slippery. The valley sides are steep so most of the time you're in the shade, apart from the start of the walk. It also means that you need to be a hardy soul to swim at either fall because the water is cold (we saw one family changing into wet suits!) You don't need a guide to show you the way but they could be useful to help you or young children cross the stream or prevent you from slipping near the second waterfall.
So far Sendang gile and Tiu Kelep is my favourite waterfalls in Indonesia.. I enjoy the hiking as well.. Very beautiful place..
Magical waterfall! This is worth spending a night in Senaru (which is a lovely village!) And do the hike early in the morning so there are no others (as it can be very crowded)-a day trip would be long from a main city and senaru is great (theres also a panorama walk you can do (do it in the evening before sunset). We entered through a trail starting somewhere in the middle of Senaru and followed the river to the waterfall area (its a dirt path..so just pay the entrance fee when you leave since you bypass it) which was much much nicer than just entering the main entrance and walking on a cement path. We didnt use a guide and no one asked us by that point. Watershoes would have been nice! but we just had sandals and it was fine and it was not hard to find our way...just follow the river upstream. Seriously worth it!
Great waterfalls. No need to take a guide. Just follow the footpath. 15 minutes to first waterfall, then walk back up 30 seconds and turn left for the second water fall. Shoes recommended though they'll get wet.
Sendang gile waterfall is about 10 minutes walk from the entrance. As for tiu kelep, need to walk a bit more to get there. Crossing a bridge & a small creek, navigating through big rock formation.. But once you get here, you will immediately forget those hardship.. until you decide to go back.. At the entrance we are REQUIRED/FORCED to use guide service for entry. The fee is ridiculous, even for domestic tourist..!! Have to do big deal of haggling for a more reasonable price. If you have the time & energy, go up to the coffee plantation. From there you can see the top of tiu kelep.
