Le Mayeur Museum, Sanur
(3/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Browse the collection of art at Le Mayeur Museum, the former home of Belgian painter Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres. The collection includes both the artist's own works and his collection of Balinese cultural artifacts. Although Le Mayeur only intended to visit Bali for a few months in 1932, he stayed for good after falling in love with a young legong dancer who became his lifelong muse. Sadly, the sea air has damaged the poorly protected paintings, but even faded, they still display the artist's great skill. With our international travel planner, Denpasar attractions like Le Mayeur Museum can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • This is a funny little place just off the beach. The building is beautiful and the gardens too. I enjoyed looking at the paintings, although the presentation is not great and the lighting doesn't help...  more »
  • This museum is a must see .it shows the works and the House that this Belgian painter bequeathed to the Government the paintings really have a style and are beautiful unfortunately this museum has air abandons: hard to find especially when it's raining, poorly lit, the paintings are under windows and badly visible with the reflections and the bad lighting home. Friendly of the tenant of the premises that opened while the Museum was closed

  • But what a pity! The Museum is in the House of the painter and his wife, who is just sublime, a lot of amazing furniture remained. But the works: what a mess! Their condition is so damaged for some we can paint something else on it soon! The colors (which were amazing) are for the most part completely past... Being Belgian and knowing his work, this visit has saddened us. 20 000 rp entry, no AC, no fan and the House is closed by windows everywhere where usual air flows (probably to help conserve the works, but it was unfortunately not enough and transformed the Museum into an oven). We enjoyed the garden, not very big but with many statues that staff had almost all decorated with a flower in your hand or in your hair.

  • Aloha great place to visit amazing place to visit..they also have accomadation pollock right on the beach
  • Peaceful.Lovely old buildings of Bali. Serenity. Well worth the visit.
  • perfect
  • Great unknown place and artist in Bali! Paintings are beautiful and wooden carved furnitures and facades are gorgeous detailed works, but unfortunately the whole house became museum is not well maintained and preserved. Paintings are exposed to humidity etc and furnitures r dusty and less appreciated as art pieces and antiques. Cheap entrance fee and should be taken more seriously. Still an inspiring place anyways...
  • Cheap ticket. Faded artwork.
