Inspirock Rating:
3.9/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
The haunting atmosphere of Londa Burial Caves introduces you to the post mortem traditions of Indonesia. Greeting you at the entrance of the cave is a balcony of tau tau, traditional effigies of the deceased made out of wood or bamboo. You'll need to take a guide with you, who leads the way with an oil lamp while explaining the traditions and history of the tomb. Worn out possessions and gifts carrying specific meaning to the deceased lay around piles of bones and coffins. Be respectful of the sacred grounds and refrain from touching any of the remains. Plan your visit to Londa Burial Caves and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Rantepao trip itinerary maker.

  • The trip is primarily the discovery and astonishment. There is a real cultural shock that we become truly aware that once!

  • Very visited by tourists and locals, lots of vendors. The are quite closed and not recommended for those with claustrophobia. It is a place where you feel well and burial traditions understand the whys.

  • Coffins hanging on the wall. Then visit caves 2: coffins gutted with bones everywhere. One of the caves requires almost to 4 legs. He is very hot especially with their light of lamp oil.
