Madakaripura Waterfall, Probolinggo

4.3
#5 of 54 in Nature in East Java
Waterfall Nature / Park
One of the tallest falls in Indonesia, Madakaripura Waterfall tumbles into a vast grotto. To reach this location, hike through a deep valley, crossing rocky terrain and passing through a narrow chasm, into which a steady rain of small cascades descends. Exit the chasm and find yourself in a huge natural hollow, open at the top, with moss-covered rock faces towering above you. The main waterfall plunges into this chamber, creating a large plunge pool, ideal for taking a dip. You will inevitably get wet visiting this waterfall, so bring a raincoat or an umbrella. You can also buy disposable ponchos and plastic bags for your valuables at stalls along the trekking path. Take a look at our Probolinggo tourist route planner to schedule your visit to Madakaripura Waterfall and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Top point of interest! You should definitely do ... We booked this via clover homestay along with the night bromotour ... You coming and then via scooters deeper in the jungle ... All this without a helmet, but there you have to transfer you:) After a walk of approx. 30 min and then step you have a 100 m by the river. To the middle of your calves get to the water ... we were not equipped with and bought slippers so there ... well not ideal, better a fixed shoe or sandal that against the water can. Raincoat or poncho is because you take to drench;) but no sure sell them there as well;) You go inside and a "Guide" takes you on a walk and then through the water ... behind the curve you can see one of the most beautiful things you've ever seen ... with your feet by the fresh water and under the drops of walk is Heavenly:) the Guide turns out to be photographer and it is a top day! Have question/claims the guide a tip of 50000 IDR while you already have paid each access of 70000 and slippers and poncho bought ... we gave 35000 and that was ok for him. ... Absolute must, also for children, but then be equipped with helmet on the scooter;)

  • From the car park you can take a motorcycle taxi to the entrance. From there it is about half an hour walk to the waterfall. If you own a rain poncho or kw and plastic slippers at, you can buy on the spot; and that is really recommended. The waterfall itself is 1 of the most beautiful I have ever seen, really bother. But be prepared for a shower, so be careful with cameras ed ...
