Create an itinerary including Kelingking Beach
Set against the backdrop of a verdant limestone headland that resembles a T-Rex head with the mouth wide open, Kelingking Beach remains one of the best kept secrets on the island. The trek down to this secluded beach requires a bit of rock climbing on the way back up, so many visitors are quite happy to stay on a viewing platform taking selfies and enjoying the vistas over the hills and deep blue waters. If you do dare to tackle a rugged, cliff-side path secured only partially with bamboo railings, do it during low tide when the sea is calmer. A restaurant on the top of the hill offers refreshments, but it would be wise to take water with you nevertheless. Using our custom trip planner, Nusa Penida attractions like Kelingking Beach can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • We have long wanted to visit this magnificent place. Be prepared for the fact that it is very hot here. We really enjoyed the view of cool colors of water and nature. There are a lot of tourists...

  • If you want to go to the beach you'll need to be fit! After the many steep steps you're going to have to basically climb down the cliff to get there. There's a dedicated route which is well fenced but parts of the decent are vertical! If you decide to brave it, wear decent shoes and take water. You'll be rewarded at the bottom with one of the best beaches I've seen and amazing waves to try and outrun! Suggest taking a backpack of snacks and drinks along with the usual beach stuff and making a day of it. It took about 40 minutes to get down but was quicker coming up - climbing up the cliff is way easier 😅
  • It’s definitely worth a hike! You really have to take a lot of water and sunscreen or else the hike is not going to be fun. The sunset is so pretty but make sure you don’t drive too late if you’re driving on you own. The way up to the cliffs (where you start your hike) can be very hard and bendy. Be careful with the waves, they can be extremely high and the stream in the ocean is strong. But if you are careful swimming down there can be much fun. Make sure to bring some hiking shoes because the way down and up is pretty much like a hiking trail and you need to climb a tiny bit. But it’s fun! Must visit if you are on Nusa Penida!
  • A truly beautiful beach 😍 Definitely worth taking the time to travel here for such a spectacular view. I've seen many pictures of this place but seeing it in real life was an unforgettable experience. The water looks so blue and pristine and coupled with the rock formations, this is a fantastic location to take some beautiful pictures. You can even climb down many steeps stair to reach the beach. I regretted not doing so as the sand looked so soft and warm. Would definitely want to return here some day :)
  • To be honest: I didn't go to the beach itself because it takes you really long to get there and I only spent one day on the island... But even the visit of the platform is worth it. So you've seen at least the great scenery. Unfortunately it is probably the most touristy spot on Nusa Penida and there's a small parking fee but still I would recommend it.
  • Don’t miss out on the best beach in all of Bali right here in Nusa Penida. It’s a 30-45 min hike down. I highly recommend wearing tennis shoes. At one point the stairs end & you’re have to hike literally almost straight down. Folks that wore sandals had a tough time getting down. Once down in the beach there’s a vendor for drinks & snacks. I’d recommend bringing water. Waves are some of the biggest and clearest!
