  • Lamalera is known by BBC/ZDF reports on traditional whaling. In the village live only fishermen who live exclusively from fish fish and whales, the meat and the fat is then on markets in other villages against other food (rice, vegetables,...) exchanged. This village can not survive without whaling, it must be a clear, if you go there! The Waljagdsaison starts after lengthy Przessionen on May 1st and ends in late September. A good whale imposed up to 30 Walre. This number has no negative influence on the global whale populations. Another highlight there is it goes with the fishermen, sea and can experience, such as hundreds of dolphins and possibly other whale species (ours were pilot whales) fish a hunt around. And obviously the friendliness of the locals, we were able to learn firsthand how one can live in the 21st century without high-tech and missed nothing.
