Lake Batur (Danau Batur), Kintamani

(3.8/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Take in the fresh mountain air and dramatic landscape of Lake Batur (Danau Batur), a crescent-shaped body of water in the shadow of an active volcano. Mount Batur sits at the center of a vast caldera--a crater-like basin formed by volcanic activity--of which the lake fills the southeastern side. Take a boat out on the lake, trek to the top of the volcano for stunning views, and then go for a dip in the hot springs overlooking the water. Add some culture to your visit with a stop at the onsite museum to learn more about the history of the volcano, and visit Pura Ulun Danu Batur--considered the second most important temple in Bali. The temple sits on the rim of the caldera, having been destroyed by lava flows when it was originally located within the basin itself. Using our international travel planner, Kintamani attractions like Lake Batur (Danau Batur) can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • We are with the scooter from Ubud to the volcano. Here you will find along the beautiful rice terraces Tegalalang and all kinds of shops with hand work. A really nice route. It is also an easy way: always straight. It went fairly smoothly: an hour we were there. But once we were almost there, we were on the road was stopped by a guy who suddenly jumped from a small hut and began to wave with a booklet that we had to pay 31,000 IDR per person. When we saw that there ' enterance ticket ' on his cabin stood, he by no means an official uniform was wearing and just stopped tourists, we have refused to pay. This concerned only tourist rip-off. After some back and forth those discussions, he has us just pass through. We are then on a road with a magnificent view of the Lake and the volcano. We are in a little restaurant that vision had a drink. You will be immediately harassed by women or children who try to sell you something. After our drink we continued: down to the Lake and towards the hot springs. We could in the complexes of the hot springs without bathing; This was free. Baden took 150,000 IDR per person. We're just on a terrace, enjoy the view and have some pictures taken.
