Tirta Gangga, Karangasem
Categories: Gardens, Historic Sites, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Discover Bali's royal history at Tirta Gangga, a water palace featuring a network of fountains and pools surrounded by well-manicured gardens. Though it looks ancient, the palace complex actually dates back to the 1940s. Carefully restored after a nearby volcano erupted in 1963, the grounds boast an impressive eleven-tiered fountain that forms the centerpiece of the surrounding sculpture gardens. Make a brief visit to photograph these highlights and relax amid the verdant scenery, or plan a longer tour of the terraced countryside to see fertile rice paddies and a number of old temples. Make Tirta Gangga a centerpiece of your Karangasem vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Karangasem family vacation planner.
