Discover Bali's royal history at Tirta Gangga, a water palace featuring a network of fountains and pools surrounded by well-manicured gardens. Though it looks ancient, the palace complex actually dates back to the 1940s. Carefully restored after a nearby volcano erupted in 1963, the grounds boast an impressive eleven-tiered fountain that forms the centerpiece of the surrounding sculpture gardens. Make a brief visit to photograph these highlights and relax amid the verdant scenery, or plan a longer tour of the terraced countryside to see fertile rice paddies and a number of old temples. Make Tirta Gangga a centerpiece of your Karangasem vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Karangasem family vacation planner.

  • Nice park, with many pools, fishes and running water everywhere. I think it would be better to visit this place on weekday to avoid crowds.
  • The water Palace is a must if you are in the vicinity. After a tour through the rice fields (3 h), this is an oasis of relaxation.
