  • We spent 4 days on the beautiful Karimunjawa Islands. Most Ferries depart towards Karimunjawa from Jepara. We took the fast ferry (Kapal Cepat express Bahari). This takes approximately 2 hours and was comfortable. The transportation to and from the ferry was offered free of charge by our hotel. Our accommodation Casa Velion was just outside the village. This was however not bad since you anyway needed a scooter to explore the island and its beaches. In the village there are a few restaurants and food stalls, otherwise, not much is going on. Anyone looking for parties is wrong here. The hotel's owner (a Hungarian Romanian married couple) were very friendly and helpful at all times. They rode along the island with us the way and the best beaches to show us, they organized the snorkeling island hopping trip for us and cooked delicious food. We were at the end of the rainy season on the island. In the 4 days we had a shower and otherwise beautiful weather. During the rainy season are a few tourists on the Islands, so that we had whole beaches just for us. In the dry season are mainly domestic tourists on the Islands. The snorkeling trip very worthwhile. We manage three different snorkeling sites, saw lots of fish and even turtles and relaxing on secluded Islands. Unfortunately garbage found on the Islands and on the beaches again. In high season, it is probably cleaner to keep beaches.

  • We had 6 days in the Coconuthouse. The guys there are super. You can borrow a scooter to explore the island or to drive to the beach. The beaches are indeed somewhat further outside. There it is not running not so easy. There's great food in the village square. Lunch buffet and in the evening from the street stall type. The rice and fish is mainly. The Fried Calamari is recommended. The pizzeria was not worth it. We were snorkeling. Once East and one West of the island. To see there are turtles, Nemos, and many other small and large fish. Has worth it really, because is also an island hopping including. One day we were walking. That is, we were on one of the highest mountains and have planted tamarind. Then, we saw a group of monkeys and then spent the afternoon in a nice Bay. Overall, it was really great.

  • The place is perfect for nature, relaxing and soothe your mind because the island is not 'busy' yet in tourism. What to concern is the transportations to get there, a bit tricky, the weather sometimes...  more »
