Where to stay in Jakarta

A wealth of choices exists in Jakarta, a sightseeing destination in its own right and a gateway to the rest of the country. For luxury options, try the Lingkar Kuningan area, where new developments provide rooms with excellent views of the city. Head north to find more affordable hotels, offering comfortable rooms in local, non-chain establishments. Up in the Kemang district you'll find an abundance of backpacker and budget accommodations, such as hostels and rental apartments, in areas known for their small cafes, trendy bars, and nightlife.

  • Good old classic textile marketplace. Lots of great stuff, good prices, especially if you enjoy bargaining. However the parking lot is quite a pain though. Recommend to use public transport instead
  • you could find many thing here. it was famous because of cheap material for tailoring. it still famous for that though not as much as the old times. I won't recommend you to bring vehicle here.
  • You can find almost everything here, quality product sold in bulk with various model and quality. It has been renovated for visitors convenience.
  • Excellent shopping for everything, cookware, textile, women ware, gold ware, accessories, shoes, back to school necessities, ribbons, from bags to fish, from shoes to fresh produce...you name it...all is here in the market, in the main building and even in the vacinity compound. Taste the local street food, all alluring indonesian delights, found from corner to corner just by walking distances. Make sure you bring extra cash because credit cards are not popular here. • Good place to find almost anything. Tailor, food, make up, hair care, towels, kids' toys. But it's quite hard to find a parking spot here on weekends.
