Mount Papandayan, Garut

(130+ reviews on the web)
Volcano Nature / Park
Test your fitness and courage and with a trek up Mount Papandayan, an active volcano whose peak stands at 2,665 m (8,743 ft). The track bears plenty of markers of volcanic activity, including steam vents and mud pools, as well as a yellow, bubbling crater. For a creepy experience, check out the ghostly patch of forest killed in a previous eruption. Be warned: some visitors may find the trek difficult, and proper equipment, such as trekking boots and sun-protection gear, is recommended. Follow the safety regulations, as volcanic activity can present unexpected dangers. Work out when and for how long to visit Mount Papandayan and other Garut attractions using our handy Garut itinerary planner.
