  • We visited the refugee camp on Galang Island is Viet Nam in May 2017. The journey from the City Centre using motorcycle is less than 2 hours. Camp is very extensive, so not too many places we can visit. Not quite an hour to tour the camp. Here are many relic relic buildings such as dwellings, churches, monasteries, pagodas, a small mosque, cemeteries, hospitals, monuments, as well as museums, etc. These sights are not crowded. Much of the story is sad and heartbreaking of these refugees. Unfortunately most of the buildings were not maintained and not enough signposts for tourists. Although there are some buildings are still fairly well preserved Monasteries such as Quan Am Tu, the Catholic Church and the museum. Entrance tickets to this place Rp 5,000 and Rp 5,000/person/vehicle motorcycle. We recommend that you visit early in the morning in order to get around and see more places here.

  • An old and historical place. The place is not too well conserved but quite interesting place to visit to. Quite far from the city, so prepare your time at least half day to go there.
  • This Places is ex vietnamese's refugge that stayed in this camp from 1979 to 1996, escape from their country using boat because of vietnam civil war. many facilities and offices such as a camp administration office, PMI (Palang Merah Indonesia or Indonesian Red Cross Hospital) and UNHCR offices/staff premises. Many non-government organisations such as Save the Children and Écoles Sans Frontières also operated schools in the camp. Most refugees stayed in wooden long houses or makeshift accommodation (*wikipedia)
  • this camp were managed by UNESCO back in vietnam war era you can still see the boat refugees used to sailed to Galang island back then being displayed here some building were left unmanaged, but most of them are still in good condition including the temple, church, hospital, jail, etcdo bring your own foods and drinks, there's no vendor here
  • An historical place, everything here make us thinking back about the past. Sadly local goverment not so focus with these site.
  • I went here at weekday, I felt lost in a scary village, bcs this place very quiet. There was monkeys around the street I passed. A few buildings wasn't look after so make this place terrible.
