  • We visited the refugee camp on Galang Island is Viet Nam in May 2017. The journey from the City Centre using motorcycle is less than 2 hours. Camp is very extensive, so not too many places we can visit. Not quite an hour to tour the camp. Here are many relic relic buildings such as dwellings, churches, monasteries, pagodas, a small mosque, cemeteries, hospitals, monuments, as well as museums, etc. These sights are not crowded. Much of the story is sad and heartbreaking of these refugees. Unfortunately most of the buildings were not maintained and not enough signposts for tourists. Although there are some buildings are still fairly well preserved Monasteries such as Quan Am Tu, the Catholic Church and the museum. Entrance tickets to this place Rp 5,000 and Rp 5,000/person/vehicle motorcycle. We recommend that you visit early in the morning in order to get around and see more places here.

  • I went here at weekday, I felt lost in a scary village, bcs this place very quiet. There was monkeys around the street I passed. A few buildings wasn't look after so make this place terrible.
  • A historical place to learn about the refugees from Vietnam. Quite run down and not well maintained. The room with photos and items from the past do not have working light nor fan. Only for hardcore individual whom like to know about the history.
  • Well maintained historical place with well documented history. Great place for spending time with family or friends. There you can feed monkeys and deers, which offer unique nature experience. Great place for jogging, bicycling, and children.
  • This place is take one until two hours to reach, but when we already here it's make we feel happy and awesome!
  • This place where my new life was began. I left vn at the age of 17 by boat and drifted to Indonesia and camped on Galang island for 1 year then went to Australia. It is a place I call home. Life has changed me ever since.
