Sikidang Crater, Dieng

(3.7/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Boil an egg using volcanic heat at Sikidang Crater. The shifting volcanic terrain has created a pool of boiling water suitable for cooking eggs, although you should only do this under the supervision of a guide. Grey ash and rocks cover the landscape, which is full of active steam vents and hot stones. You can get right up next to the main crater, which contains bubbling mud and billows with sulphuric steam. Bring a face mask to protect yourself from the steam and the rotten-egg smell. Make Sikidang Crater a part of your Dieng vacation plans using our Dieng travel itinerary planner.

  • A nice walk, beautiful environment, a remarkable sulphurous crater. For us a first introduction to this phenomenon (sea, air) and certainly do not want to Miss also because near also nice Temple (remains). Turned out to be less spectacular than the later visited Itjeng crater, but here you stand with one foot in the sulphur actually shorts. We could imagine that in the high season the attraction is flooded, so much space there was for stalls and visitors.

  • Sikidang is pretty good, actually default destination in Dieng, but there is a lot of extortion about ticket box, local seller, pander, parking staff. ©2016 | AMING.id

  • Pretty cool and impressive! I would recommend to wear a mask, the smell is quite bad.
  • Suppose I chose the wrong time to visit this place because it was so packed and I couldn't really enjoyed the time there. Nevertheless, it is one of the must visit spot in the region. Not everyday and everywhere you could observe a natural crater with rotten egg smell ;) Overall, this place is still amazing!
