Seems like Pasar Badung and Kumabasari Markt are the same thing. We always ended up at the Kumabasari Markt, or maybe Pasar Badung was the smelly market in front of it. Anyway just go to Kumabasari Ma...  more »

This market is rather reserved for bulk purchases. The environment is dirty, the Interior is rather dark. However, merchants are welcoming, smiling. Is not really typical, outside the alignment of the scooters in the parking lot next to the river.

As I had properly understood our guide Udin, the original building of the Pasar Badung is burned quite some time ago. Therefore, only an open area extends in its place. The new Pasar but simply moved into a building on the other side of the river. The building is briefly described: it has the charm of a three-storey building with exterior staircase and Gallery. The stands are about 2 * 3m-large niches that are strung and overflowing of goods. Inside, two intersecting aisles of 1 m lead width. This sounds daunting, it is but with nieces. As one on which goods throughout this and hanging from the walls can see hardly anything. Since we got nowhere to see prices, our guide Udin said we should start with the half of the specified price. With the time, to develop a feeling for the relation of price and quality. Because here the special tourist bonus will be added, you must decide what the item is worth one. So, both sides make a good deal. Here you can test the trustworthiness of his guide. Usually these are between the chairs. For one, they want to please one so you book more trips. On the other hand, you may not to actively with Act or explain whether the prices bsw. are overpriced. I think we were lucky. A slight nod from outside, a direct conversation with the dealers and even protecting a targeted "too much" us against usury. BUT he was also feeling the reluctance of traders. This is not good for someone who wants to search the ridicule more often. So much to do so. Actually, there are here all kinds of things. Who but is on spices and fruits out, should find a food market. Conclusion: It has its own charm. Who can act, is also a bargain with security.

Huge pasar and great place to go to experience Indonesian local shopping. Have fun bartering with the vendors, but be sure to give in a little. The money is a lot more to them than it is to you. Lots and lots of stuff to buy here if you need souvenirs to take back home.

good and cheap market to buy balinese thing, bit a bit hot in there

Popular local market to purchase fabrics, but too much similar products especially synthetic lace for kebayas and sarong fabrics. Natural fabrics are more rare. Most shops accept only cash payments. No public WC around or even a proper cafe or warung where you could sit down and rest...

The main entrance to this place didn't seem accessible by car. However some strange woman hustled us into the markets from down the road. At first the market was unsettling and appeared very run down. After exploring it for an hour we were very much at home. The key here is to search through all the levels deep inside the bowels, barter, barter, barter.

Where to stay in Denpasar

Beachside hotels and resorts in Denpasar offer relaxing options, though prices remain high in accommodations with many facilities and good views. Many locals offer rooms for rent, while rental apartments provide another affordable and slightly more private alternative. Search farther away from the waterfront for lower rates, offered by basic hotels and budget villas.
