Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Kalimantan

#1 of 87 in Parks in Kalimantan
Admire orangutans in their natural environment at Tanjung Puting National Park. The park hosts wild and rehabilitated orangutans as well as other species of monkeys, like macaques and proboscis. Get a close look at wild creatures from viewing platforms in the trees, located near a frequented food source. Be mindful of visiting while plantation fires are burning, when the air fills with smoke and makes traveling extremely difficult. Avoid this problem by planning your trip for the period right after the rainy season. Make Tanjung Puting National Park a centerpiece of your Pangkalan Bun vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Pangkalan Bun trip builder .

  • Points which were not met on the tour OT3 (in Group) day 1: "on arrival at the airport you will be waiting for the Guide..." Wait 35 minutes outside. The klotok came to the 11.20 h (3 h standby). IF RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COMPANY KNOWS THAT 10 CUSTOMERS ARRIVE AT 0700 H WAS COULD FORESEE AND AVOID ALL THESE HOURS NOT USED. ES and ES through the jungle to sit to see gorillas nearly an hour ahead of schedule. Incidence: A the afternoon perched at 4.30 H as to rest and sleep. The guide said that if we wanted to ride that goodbye. leave us alone was a recklessness. We find Python the oil and smoke emitted by our KLOTOK and by the SATURATION of others, it hurts in sight, to LOS PULMÕES and above all to nature. PHOTOS AND VIDEOS." DAY 3: 5.30 h a.m. = is Strip by LA BORDA all the dirt accumulated in the BANIOS during 2 days, the garbage was full of the bins from the 1st day. Dirty mirrors, pulled water bottles in the parties give it kitchen, engines. (PHOTO SUBMITTED BY NORBERTO AND MORE THAT HAVE NOT YET SENT BECAUSE ARE IN CAMERA, NOT ON PHONE). Soon after the Guide, as usual, from the bottom of the boat where they sleep, opens his pack of snuff and pulls plastic and papers to the river. Pull butts is common by the entire crew. We share a mattress and mosquito net (by the way, dirty and malolinetes.) The pillow, the worst!). (PHOTOS OF THE CROWDED). Not you could access according to that parts of the boat until the people were not aroused. The Guide woke up when us habiamos desayunado. The klotok not had life or equipment of first aid. Guide to times away and saying that this tired because you work several weeks and that it takes a... Above all, trust your experience in the area, pore so not let me explain as only a group of 8 people in a lost path is delves into the jungle. Treatment to the public they have to appear in every three sentences the insults is not pleasant; especially if there are homosexual people in the group. Group us we went looking and, sometimes, already resoplabamos or you wondered: what about gays?        5 generator (+ staff) day 2 pedi repeatedly (up to 4), please light the generator because some had battery for camera. Always me said: now, now, plug. I will bye that did not work. We had that go see the orangutans and say (in English): Jolin, I have not failed to load the camera. And little kindly tell me: has been on the generator 1 h. I say: impossible, I don't have because pentirte because nobody to failed to load anything. He said: I'm lying. Finally, confessed that the generator is had broken and when we returned to see the orangutans left us your batery box. Comentais also that: 'Handpicked Klotok' guess who really wanted express otherwise with this phrase but portrays the reality. Indeed, the you choose without taking into account the needs of each group + crew. Not the you choose consciously. A few customers said them that they would be 6, other 5, others nothing. The Agency should know exactly how many people will be on the boat. Other groups of tourists and other guides were surprised as the 10 were in eses klotok. The klotok not had life or equipment of first aid. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. All choice. Great job of Rajma and her husband, Aspa. Incidence: The hygienic measures in the kitchen are the predictable in any cuisine from Asia, Africa, etc., but not in a Klotok whereby COMENTAIS people received training. Cigars lit (falling ash) over open can of condensed milk which spread the tastodas of the breakfast or coffee producer, are not very convenient (photos). A companyera had to dwell much every day so they gave him a second glass of water fria, justified it saying they had to save, but servian coca-colas at close range: create more waste. "We do not act simply as a company..." Incidence: Photos and videos preban otherwise, albeit as comentais rate (that doesn't it anyone). PAGE 9 of the PDF OT3 "our prices are the most competitive..." It is not true if we consider the number of people that you have gotten into the klotok. If that aprovechasi to maximize the space and resources, but at what price? Workers do not feel well paid and we've paid 220 uros per head or some more! Talking to other agencies and tourists during the tour can refute this point (I have contact from other tourists) "we give bortella of SOAP and shampoo that does not contamineis the rivers with..." We would have to consider whether it pollutes more SOAP paraben than an engine of super klotok revolutionized by the weight that carries. The raft of oil and diesel oil which emit the empbarcaciones hurt nature and the soul. We were more than 2 h breathing the smoke of the klotok front by the saturation of the River, when it publiitaba to seriaamos the first to avoid overruns (could be). PROPOSAL: REDUCE TOUR TWO DAYS FOR LIMITED EMISSIONS TOXIC TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND, IN ADDITION, THAT THE TRAVELLER WILL FEEL THAT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY MINUTE OF THE TOUR. THERE ARE A LOT OF HOURS LOST WITH LOWERED AWNINGS THAT NOT PUEDS BENEFIT FROM CONTACT WITH NATURE NOR.      PAGE 10 of the PDF OT3 some photos are far from reality. Advertising enganiosa. I have photos showing it. SINTESI: The biggest disappointment of my trip to Indonesia welcome group people with whom we did pinya in some moments of anger with the tour. Also be together we started the tour the diaa for the attack. Try to at all times not to transmit my discomfort to the crew since they are salaried and depend on a superior which I am and who would have to know to perfection who works in 'their' klotok. Problems appear when it delegates too, if the team is not known and hired other people to manage or make Tours (with Perama was great, only there was problem to wait 38 minutes I recojieran, I went last because I had the contracted tour with) Come2Indonesia and not with them directly, also pay more than the rest of travelers but thats my would assume.) It is not possible that the responsible of the Agency comment that there was a so in the klotok that did not know and who was responsible for some of the irresponsibilities ecological given. I'm going to ask for the return of 75% of the tour and I would love the rest is donated really to the TANJUNG PUTTING Park. I hope to receive your reply. Sincerely, Laura Estors tailor

  • Fantastic! Natural wildlife, you just take a flight to Iskandar airport of Pangkal bun, go to river Port near Kumai port to take a boat to Taman National Tanjung Puting. It's take 1 hour using speedboat or 3 hours using ordinary boat. You will follow natural river and can see crocodiles, birds and monkeys on the forest. There some orang utans at feeding point during the feeding time start at 1.00 PM. Beware if you bring your kids or some small bag, the devil monkey could steal.
  • Fantastic. Ivend Stephen (you can find him on Facebook if you want a tour) was our guide. Excellent wildlife, tour, food and hospitality. Dinner with fireflies. We visited 3 orangutan feeding stations throughout the park. We also planted seedlings to help with reforestation. 3 days, 2 nights. One night on the Klotok (boat), and the other at Rimba lodge.
  • Very good park & experience. Staff feed orangutans and you can see how they come to eat. We saw some orangutans very very close!! Amazing forest trekking. I recommend to stay in a klotok (boat). From the boat we saw wild orangutans too. Dont miss it!
  • The whole reason I came to Indonesian again was to see the Orangutans. This is a must do!! Amazing experience I will never forget
  • Simply an amazing experience. All the rainforest should be preserved for future generations, visit this place and understand why.
