To enjoy it thoroughly, go very early, even if it means waiting a long time for the Sunrise because after there are a lot of people. We got the first (alone in the world :)) at the top of the Ijen. Then with the help of a minor that we paid, stayed in the crater to see the blue fire. The miners lent us masks gas which are very useful at the bottom. the experience is fantastic. After the blue fire, we are back to wait for the sunrise on the other side of the volcano and we have seen very far to the procession of blade endless torch that went down in the crater while we were alone at the top to watch the most beautiful starry sky I've ever seen! Do not hesitate, go ahead!show original

A guide is not necessary, there is only one route and there are a lot of people. Though no blue frames seenshow original
