  • Gone with the idea to bring a Ganesh in sandalwood of Indonesia, we visited this centre of woodworking where you can occasionally glimpse a worker put a chisel... for the photo. So, the most interesting is in the shop, on different species, all beautiful sculptures and... not gift! The Palm is returning to the... wood sandalwood! This wood is worth gold to Bali! And when I explained to the seller to Varanasi in India, in burning dozens m3 per day it opened to the startled eyes. So the Sandalwood sculptures are rather small, very expensive, and locked in glass cases: $ 200 a small Ganesh of 8 cm high! Conclusion, I am left with a Ganesh in wood of crocodile (a local, claire, whose bark has some rough edges resembling the skin of a saurian) $ 75 (900000 IDR) that I scented the essence of sandalwood. When I think that I bought a 30 cm high camphor wood head of Shiva to Nepal for 750 rupees (€12,5), I think that tourism already corrupted and customs in Bali and it isn't close to reverse...
