Shevaroy Temple, Yercaud
(3.8/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Perched at an altitude of 1,623 m (5,326 ft) sits Shevaroy Temple, a dark hermetic cave that shelters the idols of Lord Shevaroyan and goddess Kaveri. The panoramic view of the surrounding mountains from this plateau-like summit will give you plenty of photo ops. Upon entry stands the deity's idol, while a darkened tunnel behind it continues inward--according to temple's priests, it extends about 480 km (290 mi). Nice cool weather at such altitudes makes the visit refreshing and enjoyable, but bring extra clothing just in case. • I recently visited this temple with friends. The temple is located at the highest point in yercaud at 5000ft above the sea level. The temple is like a small cave where we have the sculpture engraved on ...  more »
  • This place is sacred. If somebody looks for a picnic destination with an extraordinary view, yes, nearby. Just do not leave your garbage as there is lot left already.
  • This place in yercaud is a very holy place. It's a temple carved out in a cave. Also never eat the soup sold opposite the temple.

  • This seemed to the Top point of Yercaud. it was late in the evening and was very cold. Temperature dropped to around 19 Degrees. There were Couple of fun rides as well. Lot of space around for walking, playing. The temple is good and seems like inside a cave. But is very small. Attraction is more towards sceneray spot than temple.
  • Told to be the top point in Yercaud.. its a cave temple.. the cave is told to be leading to Mysore..
  • For the scenic view. Also well maintained and clean area. They have also built one about 15 feet high viewing gallery to enjoy the view of the valley below.
  • Amazing temple. Very small. It's in a cave. You need to bend and walk in. Good experience. And the landscape around it was awesome.
  • It's less of a temple, but more like a view point. Really good environment to chill out.
