Kiliyur Falls, Yercaud
Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
The waters of Yercaud Lake tumble 91 m (300 ft) across hundreds of slabs of rock, creating the foam and spray of Kiliyur Falls. After a scenic and steep descent of 300 steps into the lush forest, you can enjoy the sight of the crystal clear cataract. The quantity of water varies, so check for the best time to visit. The falls lie 2.5 km (1.6 mi) from the lake and some 30-40 minutes drive from Salem, a route well serviced by buses and taxis. The final 500 m (1,600 ft) of the trek to the falls are on a rough pathway that demands a certain fitness level. Falls that's so exquisite! I have seen many falls but never like this! It's so lovely to watch Water falling from above our head and passing below our legs without touching us! Reaching falls is indeed difficult but entirely worth that effort. Decent quantity of water flow will be available on Nov-Feb times every year. Route to reach here, will be so narrow that cars and auto can pass but Vans will have tough time. Loved it....
The falls are nice but the approach is very very tiring. the steps are made of metal. kind of worn out now due to rust. be careful . really nice place for youth and couples, but not for old age peoples or for couples with kids.
Small water fall. Water flow was minimal when I visited(January) Have to climb up and down steps to reach the falls. Might be a tough task for elders
Good falls... Getting down the mountain to reach the falls will make you exhausted... Place for enjoyment in water with friends
If you go by a 4 wheeler, there could be a huge parking problem on a crowded day. Actually there is no demarcated parking area. After climbing down for 300 ft or so, we get to see an ordinary fall. Probably a hype created by hoteliers.
