Borra Caves, Visakhapatnam

(4.6/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Head down into the atmospheric depths of a naturally formed limestone cave system at Borra Caves. Probably around 150 million years old, the caves were first written about and documented in 1807 by British geologist William King. The erosive force of flowing water, along with chemical reactions, cut the system and created a number of interesting geological features, including stalagmites and stalactites. Nowadays, lighting illuminates the rock formations atmospherically, adding to the mystical and mythical feel of the site. • This is known as the deepest caves in India, more than 80m in depth. A must visit spot on the way to Araku Valley in Eastern Ghats. Entry Charges are applied for Indians and Foreigners but it may differ in case of foreigners. Camera and Mobile charges are extra. You can see the structure of lime stones formed automatically in this cave. This will really give you a breathtaking experience.
  • Amazing place. Usually heavy crowd at weekends. And only two counter for entrance tickets. Ticket per head is Rs 60 and extra charges for mobile and camera. U can feel thrilling how the lime stone did it.
  • It's a very good must see place for people who love natural beauty. What i felt is the coloured lights in the cave must be removed or replaced by white lights, it'd further enhance the experience and view of natural beauty.
  • Just marvellous. This itself will fetch 20% of govt.budget.but govt.and tourist minister ,officials are not believing it.
  • Borra Caves, a nature beauty and natural artfact on earth. A must visit site for art lover, historic, explorer. Remember to wear sport shoes and take your own torch.
