Sripuram Golden Temple, Vellore

3.7
#1 of 17 in Things to do in Vellore
Relax your mind at Sripuram Golden Temple, a spiritual park and temple that welcomes worshipers from all faiths. The gold-covered temple, intricately decorated with gold embellishments, houses the deity Sri Lakshmi Narayani. Feel free to toss a few coins into the water surrounding the temple to help grant protection over the spiritual site. You have to remove your shoes to enter the temples, and the floor gets hot during the midday heat, so consider visiting in the evening or taking socks. The first thing to note is that there is a rule that you are not allowed to wear shorts or anything of that sort. The temperature is also usually high and your feet get burnt easily. The temple has a sight to behold. The golden engravings are quite the high light! There is a gift shop inside too. Cameras are prohibited inside.

Very nice place to visit. Temple completely made out of gold. But to enter you have to follow lots of rules, you can't take your cell phone inside, can't wear sandals or shoes. After you entered the temple you have to walk at least 1 km in rounds to reach the main temple or else pay money.

A place of worship mainly by Hindus, well built, managed and organised by the staff and volunteers. Has all basic amenities for devotees and visitors, has a free meal facilities, parking, toilets, cloak rooms..... Sad part is commercial activities in, out and around taking over, religion taking back seat rather fast!!

Very nice temple! Well built. But it has become something like a tourist spot rather than a temple. It's all commercial and there's no spiritual feeling there. But the temple looks great!

A good three hours is needed to visit the temple even on weekdays. You have to stand in a pathway narrow enough to hold one person only. Just guess what happens if the somewhere that path catches fire.
