Papasnanam Beach, Varkala
Categories: Beaches, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Dip yourself and wash away your sins at Papasnanam Beach, a long stretch of yellow sand along the shore of the Arabian Sea believed to purify one’s soul. The cliffs behind the beach, the only area in south Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the sea, are covered with lush greenery and occasional palm tree on the beach provides the shade. These limestone formations also feature numerous water spouts and spas used in Hindu religious rituals. Take a stroll, observe religious ceremonies at the site where poojas are held for the departed souls or catch surf. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Varkala holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Papasnanam Beach and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
