Nepali Temple (Kathwala Temple), Varanasi

4.3
Admire vermillion colored walls lined with dark and elaborately carved planks at Nepali Temple (Kathwala Temple), a Nepalese-style Hindu shrine built on a Ganges ghat by the King of Nepal. Termite-resistant wood and carvers were brought from Nepal in 1843 to construct this compact structure featuring exquisite woodwork and pagoda-style architecture. Surrounded by tamarind and peepal trees, the temple houses a Shiva lingam and offers a sweeping view of Varanasi and the sacred river. Made of baked bricks, stone and wood, this temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a replica of Kathmandu’s Pashupatinath Temple. • Like whaaat? You make a Nepali temple that doesn't serve momos? Really disappointed. The place is nice actually. Would recommend if you have some free time and want to see some cool stuff.
  • This temple is near to lalita ghat. This temple is replica of Nepal's Pashupatinath Temple. But not as big as that After kashi viswanath darshanam, and Annapurneshwari darshanam, walk 15 mins and you will reach here. Get down the stairs boats will be available for ganga ride. Nice experience. Please keep the river clean.
