4/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web
Admire vermillion colored walls lined with dark and elaborately carved planks at Nepali Temple (Kathwala Temple), a Nepalese-style Hindu shrine built on a Ganges ghat by the King of Nepal. Termite-resistant wood and carvers were brought from Nepal in 1843 to construct this compact structure featuring exquisite woodwork and pagoda-style architecture. Surrounded by tamarind and peepal trees, the temple houses a Shiva lingam and offers a sweeping view of Varanasi and the sacred river. Made of baked bricks, stone and wood, this temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a replica of Kathmandu’s Pashupatinath Temple.
