  • Interesting!! Worth a visit to get a feel of fast dying culture of ' wada' from Maharashtra. While the paintings are damaged, the restoration work is on.  more »

  • Described as a typical Maratha house, this protected monument is in a disappointing state of affairs. The structure has one main hall with wall paintings, which are fading with time. If you visit in the evening, there wouldn't be enough light to view them. An internal balcony lets one peek into the central courtyard and the rest of the building (which are blocked and not in a great condition). However, the outer facade is beautiful and efforts have been made to restore it. It's a lost opportunity... wish ASI would do more to bring it back to it's former glory.
  • Wonderful wall paintings200 years old palace Luke structure.well kept so far. One of the historical Maratha ruled state Vadodara, the largest state of Gujarat is proud owner of this beautiful place . Typical Maharashtriyan style of building, seen in phone .
  • Bhau Tambekar was a Diwan or Minister of erstwhile Vadodara State to Maharaja Ganpat Rao Gaekwad between 1849 and 1854. As the ruler was weak and not properly educated, the administration of the state was entirely in the hands of the Diwan. The wall paintings belonging to the first half of the 19th century are typical of the age and represent epic scenes in the life of the people including some of those of the westerness are also represented as in. an air view. Hence that which is at a distant is placed above the one nearer. The paintings speak well of the control .the artist hand on his brush. These frescoes on the whole are marked by gracefulness, proportionate delineation and color contrast. These paintings are well looked after. The chemical treatments to these painting are periodically attended to by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is open to all during office hours on all week days.
  • This wooden multistoreyed townhouse is a typical Maratha mansion, once the residence of Bhau Tambekar, diwan of Baroda (1849–54). Inside are beautiful 19th-century murals featuring scenes from the Mahabharata, Krishna’s life and the 19th-century Anglo-Maratha War. Out of the many rooms of the haveli, only some are open for public viewing. A visit here is a must for the plethora of colourful paintings intertwined with heritage.
  • This is really place where two or three small rooms in which some murals/ paintings are from old era but if you have been to several places in India this is not much to be visited. There is no entry fee and will not take more than 15 mins to see the 2 odd rooms. Give it a skip if tight on time.
