  • I just passed through the gate driving down the city. Right in the market area of the town. Since it was evening time the gate was lit up otherwise I would not have realised the structure as anything ...  more »

  • Mandvi Gate is a historical place, but Its renown for its ladiesmarket. Actually there are a no of markets called Mangal Bajar, Amba Matano Khancho, etc, where many shops of jewelry, dresses, saree, decoration items, curtains and accessories are available. They all start from here. The road from here becomes difficult because of narrow streets and high traffic as its the main road also. No matter you are in car or bike or bicycle, you will be stucked in traffic from 4 pm to 7 pm. Even auto-rickshaws are not allowed during this time by traffic dept. Well the market is great for ladies so going there can't be resisted.
  • Historic place of vadodara plz visit our ambalace shop at near this in gadiyalipole for lace saree and blouse
  • Mandvi Gate, often termed as the North gate of the Royal Enclosure, is one of the major landmarks in Vadodara dating back to the Mughal period. Mandvi derives from the Sanskrit word mandapa meaning a pillared hall. Mandvi is at the centre of the walled city where the roads leading to the 4 gates crosses. Built by Sultan Muzaffar (1511-26 AD), this square-shaped pavilion features three bold arched openings on each of its four sides. Marked by a market place in today’s time, this gate separates the two intermingled streets into four that meet in the center. It is believed that it was used for collecting toll from merchants and traders. It was also used to make announcements for the city. Under the orders of Damaji Rao II, this gate was renovated by Governor Malharoa Maloji in 1736 AD. Later during 1856 AD, Ganpatrao Gaekwad added more storeys. Now it is a four-storied concrete structure with a clock fitted on the top. Most of the structure is intact including some of the jaalis. On special occasions like festivals and cultural events, the gate is illuminated with colorful lights. Near Mandvi Gate is aCentral Library that has been inherited by the Gaekwads, and carries over 300,000 books in the present time.
  • Historic location in vadodara to buy anything from a hairpin to an entire car. Lots of traffic, never go by car. Be ready to be stuck in traffic. Overall great location to find anything small or regular you need to buy in bulk at affordable prices.
  • Fantastic place for Festive Hangouts, if you like crowd...Superb for shopping...!!! Mandvi Gate is the Heart of the Vadodara City.
