#5 of 39 in Museums in Gujarat
Learn about the local history at Baroda Museum And Picture Gallery, where a large number of ancient and very old artifacts are preserved and tell the story of the life and art in the area. The very building is a work of art itself, having been specially designed in the late 1800s, known as the Indo-Saracenic Revival, to resemble the typical homonymous period. Go inside and see the vast collection of pieces of art, namely paintings and sculptures. Visitors usually rush to see the blue whale’s skeleton and one of the Egyptian mumies. Some of the works of the famous artist J.M.W. Turner are here, as well as the Mughal miniatures, and Akota bronzes from the 5th century. The museum having huge collection of ancient sculptures, picture, antiques and many more things. Ticket rates are very negligible compare to the content. Well designed and well maintained. Situated at very convenient location. You can also visit palnetourium, zoo and aquarium which is situated in the same garden. Typically it takes 2 hrs to see the museum.

I enjoyed a lot here. The big whale skeleton and the mummy added a lot to the joy being there. A lots of antique pieces of art depicting the culture of various nations and of course baroda too. It was too big to have a full look at all arts. Still enjoyed a lot....πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

It preserves a rich collection of art, sculpture, ethnography & ethnology. Several of the paintings are not only original but masterpieces at the picture gallery. A place must to visit if you are in baroda.
