Baroda Museum And Picture Gallery, Vadodara
(4.1/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Learn about the local history at Baroda Museum And Picture Gallery, where a large number of ancient and very old artifacts are preserved and tell the story of the life and art in the area. The very building is a work of art itself, having been specially designed in the late 1800s, known as the Indo-Saracenic Revival, to resemble the typical homonymous period. Go inside and see the vast collection of pieces of art, namely paintings and sculptures. Visitors usually rush to see the blue whale’s skeleton and one of the Egyptian mumies. Some of the works of the famous artist J.M.W. Turner are here, as well as the Mughal miniatures, and Akota bronzes from the 5th century. • Magnificent museum located in Sayaji Baug garden. It consists of two buildings in Indo-Saracenic style (although the architects were two Brits), connected by a passage gallery. In the collection there...  more »
  • A wonderful museum and even more amazing art gallery. A must see for history and art lovers. The art gallery is flooding with portraits on every wall.
  • It has lot of stuffed animals, birds and gigantic blue whale skeleton. Kids love to see them and also will recite to the names of animals and birds as they will see them. My kid enjoyed it thoroughly.

  • The place is a masterpiece. You can find every possible historical things. Starting from mummy of Egypt to modern warfare equipments, birds to skeleton of blue whale and much more. The photo gallery is an excellent collection of beautiful paintings of all ages. A must place to see in Baroda. takes nearly 4 hours to see
  • The museum was built in 1894 to resemble the Victoria & Albert Museum of London. The building was designed by Major Mant and R.F. Chisholm. It preserves a rich collection of art, sculpture, ethnography & ethnology. The picture gallery has diverse works of art from both India and abroad, including works by British painters J. M. W. Turner and John Constable, a gallery of Tibetan art, Akota bronzed dating to the fifth century AD, and a collection of Mughal miniature paintings. Worth to visit at least once to learn and understand about our HERITAGE, ART AND CULTURE...
  • You can relive history here... Huge collection of diff parts of the world... Skeleton of Giant Whale will surprise you..
  • High amount and diverse selection of different types of exhibits make this museum a quick walk through different arts and cultures. Unfortunately this is also the weakness as the is no real visible unifying theme which guides the visitor all the way. Don't miss the wale skeleton in the basement.
  • One and only best museum to see all about sir sayajirao gayakwad
