Jaisamand Lake, Udaipur
Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Enjoy views of vast expanse of water surrounded by limestone slabs covered with trees at Jaisamand Lake, the second largest artificial lake in Asia. Built in 1685 by Maharana Jai Singh by making an exquisite marble dam on Gomti River, the stonemasonry of the barrier still stands strong providing excellent observation platforms for panoramic views. Climb a marble elephant for a perfect view or take a boat trip and observe countless cormorants and pelicans on the lake. The area is also a large bird and teak forest sanctuary.
