To recommend visiting a graveyard may seem odd but these memorials, and their number, are worth the trip for the architecture and grace of these temples, some in disrepair but some of the marble carvi... read more »
It takes you back in time, a very thought provoking place of much beauty! Don't go to the museum though, waste of 100 rs entrance fee.
Beatiful Domes but is kind of creepy, isolated, in fact it was closed, but I had a look inside and the cenothaps are beautiful domes carved in marble mostly but just couldnt go inside ....
Worth a visit if you're interested in archeology...
Feel good to come here
Ahar has some good collection of pottery from Ahar culture that was contemporary with Harappans. Unfortunately it is worst case of badly displayed and maintained museum. The pottery is displayed in head high displays, there is poor lighting and no material to explain the displays.. Photography is not allowed. The ASI does not seem to bother about publicizing the Museum or it location. But then you can't blame. We Indians do not care for our culture. I found an 8-9th century temple on which a cow tethered to a sculpture and a girl washing clothes nearby. In a drain I found a piece of ancient sculpture. I hope the museum is improved. The lady in charge of the museum was quite helpful though. I was there in October 2010.
Well worth a visit, there isn't any kind of maintenance but it's really good place specially with no tourists
