Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web
Climb up the red-and-white-striped Vizhinjam Lighthouse for a spectacular view of the Kovalam area. Built in 1972, the lighthouse stands 36 m (118 ft) tall and offers a 360 degree view. The narrow spiral stairs can take the wind out of you, but once you reach the top, you'll be glad you made the effort. See a beautiful coastline of white sand, swaying palm trees, and colorful sunshades from a bird's-eye perspective. Let the cold ocean breeze refresh you as you enjoy the sight of waves crashing over rocks and the horizon spreading to infinity. • We went there in oct 2016, and noticed that due to rennovation of lifts, the lighthouse was closed for public. The roads leading to the lighthouse are very narrow.
  • Part of Kovalam beach which is popular with foreign tourists; it has black sandy beach with many hotels / shops along the beach.
