Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
See the large array of animals living at Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of the longest-established zoos in the country. The 22 hectare (55 acre) site has changed markedly since it opened in 1857, with the focus shifting from recreation to conservation. Providing enclosures that mimic the animals' natural habitats, the zoo aims to protect endangered species by growing populations away from the wild. Take a stroll around the ample grounds to see indigenous species, such as tigers, macaques, and leopards, as well as many animals from Africa, including giraffes, hippos, and zebras. Our Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) itinerary maker makes visiting Thiruvananthapuram Zoo and other Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Where to stay in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum)

The main accommodations in Thiruvananthapuram proper lie to the north of the main train station. Ranging from boutiques set in colonial-era buildings to side street youth hostels with dormitory-style rooms, the choice throughout the city covers a wide range. However, plenty of visitors to Thiruvananthapuram choose to stay closer to the coast instead, arranging day trips to the city itself. • Well maintained zoo. Best zoo in Kerala. Facilities for visitors are good. Entry fee is ₹20 per person. There is also family package option and battery car travel. There aren't much varieties of animals. But major wild animals are kept here.
  • As someone mentioned, its a good place to watch the wild, but yes, the wild cats need more space. Its heartening to see them in small cages. I am sure this way they will loose their natural instincts. While its debatable whether to put the animals in cages for the sake of 'human recreation', the zoo is good place to visit with kids. But as it happens with every Government organization, maintenance will be pathetic. God bless our country and our country men
  • This place is awesome. I loved this place. it is a great place to visit with friends or family. There are various species of animal for seeing and most of all I loved the greenery here.
  • Good number of animals... Surroundings are maintained better, but awesomely maintained. Worth visiting, especially with kids. Heard Lion sound but didn't seen him... Parking is big tough, it's only on sides of the small road which is after the zoo... This is not the best zoo in Kerala. Comparison of Trivandrum Zoo & Thrissur Zoo would be bit tough...
  • Good place to roam around. One can find a variety of rare animals here. They are well protected here by the forest dept. of Kerala.
