(170+ reviews on the web)
Religious Site Tourist Spot
Visit Chidambaram Nataraja Temple, one of the main shrines of Lord Shiva worship in India since the Classical period. The current design of the temple, adorned with bronze and stone statues depicting various religious deities, dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Admire the design's rich philosophical meaning, such as its nine gateways that symbolize the nine orifices in the human body. Likewise, the hall next to the Artha Mantapa features 18 pillars, recalling the 18 Puranas, or sacred Hindu writings. The temple stands tall over the Sivaganga, a tank that can be reached by a flight of stone stairs leading to the pool's base. • A good temple which has a lot of historic sculpture and ancient art work.No drinking water is available inside the temple and its very hot inside temple premises so you better take a bottle of water, outside the temple in parking ground toilet facility is available at a cost of Rs5/- per person.
  • Good temple, can have a peaceful darshan and can wonder the architecture. since it's with private community, too much of marketing and everyone of then keep focusing on collecting money from the devotees.
  • Very peaceful and ancient shiva temple. In this temple lord shiva called as "nataraja" for the name of dance.
