  • If you do drive into Srirangapatna, it is worth spending 5 minutes to visit these dungeons / torture chambers. A glimpse of the Kaveri river is possible from the ramparts of the fort.
  • The history related to this area is very painful. British officer Colonel Bailey, who served as a prisoner of war in Tipu’s time, breathed his last in 1782. The dungeons in Srirangapatna were named after him. A large cannon in the center of the dungeon can be seen. There are some historical theories about the presence of the cannon. A large hole in the ceiling is also there above the cannon. One of the stories is that the cannon rolled back from roof while Tipu was in war with the British during the military blockage at Srirangapatna.
  • A Dungeon where British officers were kept in prison for so many years by Tipu. Could complete watching the entire place in 10 minutes. No entry fees.
  • Worst maintenance
  • It is unfortunate to witness encroachments throughout the fort.
  • Through its not that big. It looks beautiful with the background of river
