  • Nigeen lake is just next to Dal Lake. This lake is more clean, less crowded and obviously very peaceful than Dal Lake. But it is less popular.this lake is nearer to my hotel.  more »

  • A serene lake in Srinagar city..... Beauty and grace define it.... The name nigeen come from the fact that the water is clear and blue and on a great weather day the lake looks like one huge blue gem.... There are houseboats in the lake that you can rent... Best way to spend time in the city....
  • Its a beautiful lake with the peace and serenity that is nowadays missing in the busy Dal lake. It has numerous houseboats with all amenities. Many of them have a waiting room, dining room, a double-cot bedroom with attached bathroom/toilet facilites. Most have a balcony or a sit out area to look out the beautiful surroundings. I had an amazing experience in my few days of stay in this ambience.
  • Heaven ...........come and see Kashmir.......... its heaven on Earth The lake is located adjacent to the Hari Parbat hillock, to the west of the Dal lake. To its north and west, lie the localities of Baghwanpora and Lal Bazar while to its north east lies the locality of Hazratbal, which is known for the famous shrine. Nigeen Lake (alteratively spelled as Nageen Lake) is a mildly eutrophic lake located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is sometimes considered a part of the Dal lake and is connected to it via a narrow strait. It is also connected to the Khushal Sar and Gil Sar lakes via a channel known as Nallah Amir Khan he Nigeen lake is surrounded by a large number of willow and poplar trees. Hence, it has come to be referred as a "nageena", which means "the jewel in the ring". The word "nigeen" is a local variant of the same word
  • Nestled at the foothills of Zabarwan ranges in Srinagar, Nagin Lake is one of the prime tourist attractions in the city that must not be missed. Basically it is an offshoot of the parent Dal Lake.  Being surrounded by mountains-Hari Parbat on the west and Shankaracharya hill on the east, the location of the Nagin Lake proves to be an adoring sight. Just like the other popular lakes in Srinagar, popular houseboats like Shikharas are a common sight here. These boats ferry people to and from the lake. Besides, the traditional Kashmiri Shikhara boats, visitors can also enjoy water skiing and fiberglass boat ride, which are made available at the embankments.
  • If you are in confusion between Dal lake and Nigeen lake, go for Nigeen lake.. It will be free and off beat which is always peaceful.

Where to stay in Srinagar

The moderate climate of Srinagar has made it a popular destination for locals during the summer, hence its good range of accommodations. Hotels basic and luxury, great and small, jostle for position alongside the main waterways, and across from the city's many historic gardens. However, staying on a houseboat on Dal Lake remains the most iconic way to ejoy your Srinagar holiday, with options ranging from budget to high-end. If you don't fancy spending your nights on the water, the palatial scale of the main tourist area makes it one of the more relaxing and popular areas to stay in. More cost-effective accommodations sit on the side streets of the residential districts further to the north.
