Kheer Bhawani Temple, Srinagar

4.4
#4 of 21 in Historic Sites in Srinagar
Religious Site Tourist Spot
Stop at Kheer Bhawani Temple, built on a spring that symbolizes the goddess of its namesake (folklore maintains that the waters turn black if the region is to suffer any disasters). Kashmiri Brahmans gather here in May or June for an annual festival. Otherwise, it remains pleasantly untouristed. Soak up the peaceful atmosphere at the ancient place of worship surrounded by lush chinar trees. You can eat inexpensively on site. Where to stay in Srinagar

The moderate climate of Srinagar has made it a popular destination for locals during the summer, hence its good range of accommodations. Hotels basic and luxury, great and small, jostle for position alongside the main waterways, and across from the city's many historic gardens. However, staying on a houseboat on Dal Lake remains the most iconic way to ejoy your Srinagar holiday, with options ranging from budget to high-end. If you don't fancy spending your nights on the water, the palatial scale of the main tourist area makes it one of the more relaxing and popular areas to stay in. More cost-effective accommodations sit on the side streets of the residential districts further to the north.

  • Holy place of mata kheer bhawani. Nice and well maintained place.

  • Mata Khir bhawani temple is in kashmir.this temple is very maintain it is osm temple
  • I went Ma kshir bhawani temple in 1998 when militancy was at its peak in Kashmir. But I enjoyed full the hospitality of Kashmiri people and they also appreciate my courage to visit country side of that area. At that time BSF was deputed in the Vally and I also got Kheer Prasad at Temple. Once when Swami Vivekananda visited here he heard a Akashvani of Mother in this temple. Jai Maa.
  • Tullamulla - Truly a spiritual place, one of the last remaining places that reflect rapidly vanishing Kashmiri Hindu culture & rituals.
