Take a lazy day out amidst greenery at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Gardens, a vast pleasure landscape garden complex at the foothill of Zabarwan mountain range, overlooking the scenic Dal Lake. Spanning 80 hectares (198 acres), the gardens feature over 300 species of ornamental plants, a huge variety of oaks, as well as Kashmiri tropical plants among others. Walk amidst wild orchids and roses, cedar and willow trees or take a joy ride with a boat on the lake and enjoy views of the forested mountain slopes. Established in 1969 in memory of the country’s first prime minister, the complex also features a children’s playground with merry go rounds and seesaws. This is a huge garden and full of flowers in april month. This garden is near nishat garden and around 10 kms from srinagar.
Its a wide spread garden well spruced up.We visited in February when the authorities were sprucing the garden and planting of seeds were going on so that the flowers could bloom during summer months.W... read more »
