Jama Masjid Mosque, Srinagar

4.5
In the heart of the old city lies Jama Masjid Mosque, where thousands of Muslim devotees come to pray. The massive mosque features four towers, three gates, and two 40 m (131 ft) minarets made of sandstone and white marble, all spreading over a surface of 1,200 sq m (12,910 sq ft). Built between 1644 and 1658 by more than 5,000 artisans with Shah Jahan at the helm, the mosque contains intricate carvings on its walls as well as verses from the Koran. Inside, observe the black and white marble floor, which resembles a Muslim prayer mat, and a total of 899 surrounding black prayer boxes. The monumental structure can house some 25,00 people, but officials demand constant peace and silence no matter the crowd. Not so shocked, but very special, unlike the Muslim mosque, and Gothic architecture. One is featured in Srinagar, Momo House alley next to beef is delicious, almost nothing to eat around, hard to find this restaurant in Tibet. Simply! Took a picture of the mosque, had a brother let us put the shoes on the shoe rack, can we say put the door on the ground, he has to put it on the shelf, ask us for money, we don't have to. There is very simple.

The Jamia Masjid of Srinagar is situated at Nowhatta in the middle of the Old City. It was built by sultan Sikandar Shah Kashmiri Shahmiri in 1394 AD. under the order of Mir Mohmmad Hamadani, son of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani.[1] Sultan Sikhandar's son Zain-ul-abidin extended the Jama Masjid by including turret.

This place is very beautiful inner part and as well as outer side of the masjid situated in the down town area of the Srinagar city. The better time to visit in summers at evening hours (4:00 P.M TO 7:00 P.M. ) all working days except Friday because Friday is not suitable for tourists behind any reason. Thanks

Where to stay in Srinagar

The moderate climate of Srinagar has made it a popular destination for locals during the summer, hence its good range of accommodations. Hotels basic and luxury, great and small, jostle for position alongside the main waterways, and across from the city's many historic gardens. However, staying on a houseboat on Dal Lake remains the most iconic way to ejoy your Srinagar holiday, with options ranging from budget to high-end. If you don't fancy spending your nights on the water, the palatial scale of the main tourist area makes it one of the more relaxing and popular areas to stay in. More cost-effective accommodations sit on the side streets of the residential districts further to the north.
